GUEST COMMENTARY: The Law of the Sea treaty will sink America’s economy.

The Law of the Sea treaty will sink America’s economy.

Guest Commentary By: Senator Orrin Hatch and Senator John Cornyn

Americans despise taxes.  After all, one of the key issues that paved the way for the American Revolution was the unfair taxation that King George III levied against the Colonies.

Now some in the US Senate want to say yes to an international tax.  It would be the first time in history that an international organization would possess taxing authority, and it would amount to billions of American dollars being transferred out of the US Treasury.

The U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea, or the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) is the vehicle through which such taxes would be imposed on U.S.-based commercial enterprises.

The treaty that Reagan refused to sign in 1982 is reappearing once again in the Senate.  The truth is, LOST contains numerous provisions that hurt the U.S. economy at a time when we need more jobs – not fewer.

Under the guise of being for “the good of mankind, ” LOST would obligate the United States to share information and technology in what amounts to global taxes and technology transfer requirements that are really nothing more than an attempt to redistribute U.S. wealth to the Third World.

At the center of these taxes and transfers is the International Seabed Authority (ISA), a Kingston, Jamaica based supra-national governing body established by the treaty for the purpose of redistributing cash and technology from the “developed world” to the “developing world.”

Ceding authority to the ISA would mean that the sovereignty currently held by the U.S. over the natural resources located on large parts of the continental shelf would be lost.  That loss would mean lost revenue for the US government in the form of lost royalties that the U.S. government collects from the production of those resources. According to the U.S. Extended Continental Shelf Task Force, which is currently mapping the continental shelf, the resources there “may be worth billions if not trillions” of dollars.

In case proponents of LOST have not noticed, the US is over $15 trillion in debt, and we still have more than 20 million Americans who can’t find a job. The last thing we need to do redistribute funds from our country to our economic and strategic competitors.

To make matters worse, the US would have no control over how or to whom the taxes and technology would be redistributed.

Undoubtedly funds that rightfully belong to the American taxpayer would be sent to corrupt governmental regimes, make dictators wealthier, and could even be used for activities directed against the United States and our interests.

Under the treaty, the transfer of these funds does not end with nation states.  These royalty revenues would even be extended to “peoples who have not attained full independence or other self-governing status.”  That means groups like the Palestinian Authority and potentially other groups with terrorist ties.

Proponents of the treaty will claim that the technology transfer portion of the treaty has been significantly changed.  In truth, nations with mining and resource recovery technologies like the United States will be obligated to share those technologies with Third World competitors, and that is one of the many issues, which trouble those of us opposed to the treaty.

In other words, US companies would be forced to give away the very types of innovation that historically have made our nation a world leader while fueling our economic engine.

Under the best of US economic circumstances, the Senate should say no to such an egregious breach of the trust Americans have placed in us. Our current economic struggles are all the more reason to say no to a treaty that is all cost and no benefit.

Utah Republican Senator Orrin Hatch is the ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee. Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn is a senior member of the Senate Finance Committee.

Illegal aliens considered high security risks to US has increased in 2010, report shows.

59,017 “Other Than Mexican” Illegal Aliens Apprehended in 2010, including 663 “Aliens from Special Interest Countries”

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has obtained new documents from U.S. Customs and Border Protection detailing FY 2010 apprehension statistics for illegal alien smugglers and illegal aliens from countries considered to be a high threat to the United States because of their suspected ties to terrorism.

Among the highlights from the documents, obtained by Judicial Watch pursuant to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request originally filed on January 26, 2011:

  • U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehended 463,382 individuals smuggled across the border, including 8,905 smugglers. (3,027 of the smugglers apprehended were deemed “deportable.”)
  • U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehended 59,017 “Other Than Mexican” illegal aliens through October 7, 2010.
  • Among the nations represented in apprehension statistics are the four countries currently on the State Department’s list of “State Sponsors of Terrorism,” Cuba (712), Iran (14), Syria (5) and Sudan (5), as well as Somalia (9), Afghanistan (9), Pakistan (37), Saudi Arabia (5) and Yemen (11).
  • Overall, U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehended 663 “Aliens from Special Interest Countries.” These countries are deemed “special interest” because of their suspected ties to terrorism.
  • The countries yielding the highest “Other Than Mexican” apprehensions include: Guatemala (18,406), El Salvador (13,723), and Honduras (13,580).

(U.S. Border Patrol estimates that three out of every four illegal aliens who cross the border evade apprehension.)

Press reports thrust the issue of suspected terrorists crossing the border into the spotlight in May 2010 when the Department of Homeland Security issued an alert to authorities in Texas to be on the lookout for a member of the Somali-based terrorist group Al Shabaab, who was suspected of hatching a plot to cross into the U.S. through Mexico. The warning followed an indictment unsealed earlier that month in a Texas federal court accusing a Texas Somali man of running a “large-scale smuggling enterprise” charged with bringing hundreds of Somalis across the Mexican border. Many of these illegal aliens were suspected of having ties to terrorist organizations. However, until now, the Obama administration offered little information regarding the overall scope of this growing national security problem.

“We should not be surprised if terrorists take advantage of our porous borders in light of the Obama administration’s lax approach to border security,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “When you have an administration that pushes illegal alien amnesty, permits illegal alien sanctuary policies, and attacks states like Arizona for seeking to enforce the rule of law, it sends a signal to our enemies to cross the border illegally and to do their worst. The Obama administration continues to allow our borders to spiral out of control. These numbers are simply astonishing. Our country cannot secure our borders soon enough!”

SOUND OFF: Pakistan is not acting like a friend of the US; withdraw $7.5 billion/5 yrs of financial aid from Pakistan?

With bin Laden found in Pakistan and Pakistan throwing up roadblocks in the US accessing informative links and interviewing bin Ladens’ wives conjoined with India accusing Pakistan of harboring 50+ criminals shows me that Pakistan is, indeed, harboring terrorists.

Not too mention that there seems to be a slow down of the Blackhawk helicopter shipment that was accidentally left in Pakistan.

Does anybody know the Blackhawk tail shipment status? As far as I know, it has not been received.

If Pakistan allows China to inspect the tail of the Blackhawk helicopter,  that would give us enough reason to defund the Kerry-Lugar Act which affords Pakistan $7.5 billion over a 5 year period for Pakistani actions will have proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt,  that the US does not have a friend in Pakistan.

In the Senate, two legislators control the writing of key legislation that allocates Pakistani aid have been particularly critical: Senate Armed Services chairman Carl Levin (D-MI) and Senate Appropriations State and Foreign Ops subcommittee chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT).

They are joined by House Foreign Affairs Committee’s Howard Berman (D-CA), who issued a blistering statement on criticizing the administration’s handling of the military assistance to Pakistan.

“Under the current legislative scheme, I don’t think our military assistance is serving the interests we are intending it to serve,” Berman said.  “What I’m asking the administration to do is focus on getting Pakistan to change its approach and go after extremist groups. If they’re not successful, we should reconsider giving this money.”

Berman was critical of the administration’s decision to certify that Pakistan “demonstrated a sustained commitment towards combating terrorism,” a requirement under the Kerry-Lugar-Berman aid bill passed last year, which is worth $7.5 billion over 5 years, in which, I have to concur- considering that bin Laden was in Pakistan for several years in Abbottabad, Pakistan minutes away from a police office.

He also argued that a huge fund to reimburse Pakistan for counterterrorism operations, known as the Pakistan Counterinsurgency Capability Fund (PCCF), has not been effective.

In a bi partisan effort in the House,  Richard Lugar (R-IN) and Rep. Howard Berman (D-CA) have called for a review of the Kerry Lugar Berman funding in the wake of the bi Laden killing. As leaders on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and House Foreign Affairs Committee, they play a role in authorizing the funds each year.

For me,  I feel that we must use our military and economic financial aid as a leverage to get Pakistan to comply to our wishes.

For starters,  Congress could require the administration to certify that Pakistan is cooperating with the bin Laden investigation as well as adding  financial strings to the Blackhawk helicopter tail that Pakistan needs to send back to the US pronto and their willingness to dismantle their nuclear capabilities.

Negotiation is critical in this manner and I hope Senator John Kerry (D-MA) who is over in Pakistan can reason with our so-called friends. If the Pakistanis want to focus on the fact that their sovereignty was breached even though they were harboring terrorists;  then perhaps we need to start cutting their economic/military aid in percentages with the willingness to drop it to zero altogether.

We have to be careful, though, because if we remove the aid before we get the helicopter back- the Pakistanis will most likely sell our military intelligence to China.

Its most definitely a tricky situation but one that can be manipulated if we handle our financial aid to Pakistan accordingly.

SOUND OFF: Do you think we should eliminate the $7.5 billion that we are spending to help Pakistan? Should we cut military aid, economic aid or both and why?

BREAKING NEWS: Al Qaeda confirmed bin Laden’s death and antagonizes the United States.

On Friday 05/6/11, Al Qaeda confirmed bin Laden’s death while still antagonizing the United States.

According to the Associated Press, Al Qaeda posted a statement on various militant websites.

“We stress that the blood of the holy warrior sheik, Osama bin Laden, God bless him, is precious to us and to all Muslims and will not go in vain. We will remain, God willing, a curse chasing the Americans and their agents, following them outside and inside their countries.”

“Soon, God willing, their happiness will turn to sadness- their blood will be mingled with their tears.”

The statement comes after President Obama announced that the administration would not release photos of bin Laden’s body so as to not enrage the U.S.’s enemies.

The AP stressed that it could not independently verify the authenticity of the statement, but that it was posted on websites al Qaeda typically uses to post messages.

I think, honestly, that it is only a matter of time before Al Qaeda seeks revenge on the US for taking out one of their beloved leaders.

I am grateful to hear from credible sources that our defense compounds, airports and security are on alert.

However to think that Al Qaeda are going to sit back on their hands and do nothing is naive.  What is needed to be known is if Al Qaeda is organized and bold enough to make a move that would most certainly prompt yet another retailation.

Honestly, I dont feel safer then I did a day before bin Laden was captured.

Al Qaeda has not posed a credible threat to us the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

If anything,  I feel more threatened because Obama just stirred the hornet’s nest by killing and then burying bin Laden at sea (which is frowned upon in the Muslim community).

One unwary phone call led US to Bin Laden’s doorstep

Guest Commentary provided by:  Adam Goldman and Matt Apuzzo/AP

When one of Osama bin Laden’s most trusted aides picked up the phone last year, he unknowingly led U.S. pursuers to the doorstep of his boss, the world’s most wanted terrorist.

That phone call, recounted Monday by a U.S. official, ended a years-long search for bin Laden’s personal courier, the key break in a worldwide manhunt. The courier, in turn, led U.S. intelligence to a walled compound in northeast Pakistan, where a team of Navy SEALs shot bin Laden to death.

The violent final minutes were the culmination of years of intelligence work. Inside the CIA team hunting bin Laden, it always was clear that bin Laden’s vulnerability was his couriers. He was too smart to let al-Qaida foot soldiers, or even his senior commanders, know his hideout. But if he wanted to get his messages out, somebody had to carry them, someone bin Laden trusted with his life.

In a secret CIA prison in Eastern Europe years ago, al-Qaida’s No. 3 leader, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, gave authorities the nicknames of several of bin Laden’s couriers, four former U.S. intelligence officials said. Those names were among thousands of leads the CIA was pursuing.

One man became a particular interest for the agency when another detainee, Abu Faraj al-Libi, told interrogators that when he was promoted to succeed Mohammed as al-Qaida’s operational leader he received the word through a courier. Only bin Laden would have given al-Libi that promotion, CIA officials believed.

If they could find that courier, they’d find bin Laden.

The revelation that intelligence gleaned from the CIA’s so-called black sites helped kill bin Laden was seen as vindication for many intelligence officials who have been repeatedly investigated and criticized for their involvement in a program that involved the harshest interrogation methods in U.S. history.

“We got beat up for it, but those efforts led to this great day,” said Marty Martin, a retired CIA officer who for years led the hunt for bin Laden.

Mohammed did not reveal the names while being subjected to the simulated drowning technique known as waterboarding, former officials said. He identified them many months later under standard interrogation, they said, leaving it once again up for debate as to whether the harsh technique was a valuable tool or an unnecessarily violent tactic.

It took years of work for intelligence agencies to identify the courier’s real name, which officials are not disclosing. When they did identify him, he was nowhere to be found. The CIA’s sources didn’t know where he was hiding. Bin Laden was famously insistent that no phones or computers be used near him, so the eavesdroppers at the National Security Agency kept coming up cold.

Then in the middle of last year, the courier had a telephone conversation with someone who was being monitored by U.S. intelligence, according to an American official, who like others interviewed for this story spoke only on condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive operation. The courier was located somewhere away from bin Laden’s hideout when he had the discussion, but it was enough to help intelligence officials locate and watch him.

In August 2010, the courier unknowingly led authorities to a compound in the northeast Pakistani town of Abbottabad, where al-Libi had once lived. The walls surrounding the property were as high as 18 feet and topped with barbed wire. Intelligence officials had known about the house for years, but they always suspected that bin Laden would be surrounded by heavily armed security guards. Nobody patrolled the compound in Abbottabad.

In fact, nobody came or went. And no telephone or Internet lines ran from the compound. The CIA soon believed that bin Laden was hiding in plain sight, in a hideout especially built to go unnoticed. But since bin Laden never traveled and nobody could get onto the compound without passing through two security gates, there was no way to be sure.

Despite that uncertainty, intelligence officials realized this could represent the best chance ever to get to bin Laden. They decided not to share the information with anyone, including staunch counterterrorism allies such as Britain, Canada and Australia.

By mid-February, the officials were convinced a “high-value target” was hiding in the compound. President Barack Obama wanted to take action.

“They were confident and their confidence was growing: ‘This is different. This intelligence case is different. What we see in this compound is different than anything we’ve ever seen before,'” John Brennan, the president’s top counterterrorism adviser, said Monday. “I was confident that we had the basis to take action.”

Options were limited. The compound was in a residential neighborhood in a sovereign country. If Obama ordered an airstrike and bin Laden was not in the compound, it would be a huge diplomatic problem. Even if Obama was right, obliterating the compound might make it nearly impossible to confirm bin Laden’s death.

Said Brennan: “The president had to evaluate the strength of that information, and then made what I believe was one of the most gutsiest calls of any president in recent memory.”

Obama tapped two dozen members of the Navy’s elite SEAL Team Six to carry out a raid with surgical accuracy.

Before dawn Monday morning, a pair of helicopters left Jalalabad in eastern Afghanistan. The choppers entered Pakistani airspace using sophisticated technology intended to evade that country’s radar systems, a U.S. official said.

Officially, it was a kill-or-capture mission, since the U.S. doesn’t kill unarmed people trying to surrender. But it was clear from the beginning that whoever was behind those walls had no intention of surrendering, two U.S. officials said.

The helicopters lowered into the compound, dropping the SEALs behind the walls. No shots were fired, but shortly after the team hit the ground, one of the helicopters came crashing down and rolled onto its side for reasons the government has yet to explain. None of the SEALs was injured, however, and the mission continued uninterrupted.

With the CIA and White House monitoring the situation in real time — presumably by live satellite feed or video carried by the SEALs — the team stormed the compound.

Thanks to sophisticated satellite monitoring, U.S. forces knew they’d likely find bin Laden’s family on the second and third floors of one of the buildings on the property, officials said. The SEALs secured the rest of the property first, then proceeded to the room where bin Laden was hiding. A firefight ensued, Brennan said.

The SEALs killed bin Laden with a bullet to the head. Using the call sign for his visual identification, one of the soldiers communicated that “Geronimo” had been killed in action, according to a U.S. official.

Bin Laden’s body was immediately identifiable, but the U.S. also conducted DNA testing that identified him with near 100 percent certainty, senior administration officials said. Photo analysis by the CIA, confirmation on site by a woman believed to be bin Laden’s wife, who was wounded, and matching physical features such as bin Laden’s height all helped confirm the identification. At the White House, there was no doubt.

“I think the accomplishment that very brave personnel from the United States government were able to realize yesterday is a defining moment in the war against al-Qaida, the war on terrorism, by decapitating the head of the snake known as al-Qaida,” Brennan said.

U.S. forces searched the compound and flew away with documents, hard drives and DVDs that could provide valuable intelligence about al-Qaida, a U.S. official said. The entire operation took about 40 minutes, officials said.

Bin Laden’s body was flown to the USS Carl Vinson in the North Arabian sea, a senior defense official said. There, aboard a U.S. warship, officials conducted a traditional Islamic burial ritual. Bin Laden’s body was washed and placed in a white sheet. He was placed in a weighted bag that, after religious remarks by a military officer, was slipped into the sea about 2 a.m. EDT Monday.

Said the president: “I think we can all agree this is a good day for America.”

Update 5/3- Osama bin Laden’s DNA confirmed death; Al Qaeda outcome,US security concern and Abbottabad, Pakistan’s compound maps included.

Long awaited Justice on America’s *most wanted*

A decade after the September 11, 2001 and -ironically- 8 years ago to the day yesterday of when President Bush declared “Mission Accomplished”; Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden has been killed by US forces in Pakistan last night, 05.01.2011.

“For over two decades, Bin Laden has been Al Qaeda’s leader and symbol,” Obama said. “The death of Bin Laden marks the most significant achievement to date in our nation’s effort to defeat Al Qaeda.”

DNA confirmed, Navy Seal approved

The DNA of bin Laden has been compared to previous samples of not only himself but his sister that the US had on record.  According to reports, there is a 100% match. Ive talked to a couple Navy Seal in between briefings and they also have personal stories in the wake up of bin Laden’s death that all seem to gel together.

I would believe a Navy Seal before I believed Obama. If the Navy Seals say Obama is dead; then I believe them. I would; however, like to see an autopsy report and pictures of the sea burial though; since Obama preached transparency all throughout his campaign.

Tracing the Tips and the Power of the US Navy Seals

The death of America’s “most wanted” Bin Laden was traced back to a tip received in August 2010 that Bin Laden as hiding in a compound within Abbottabad (Pakistan) and initiated a fire fight between a 40 manned U.S. Joint Special Operations Command Special Mission Unit (SMU) of the United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU — formerly known as Seal Team Six) and the Al Qaeda leader.

In addition, there were other JSOC spotters on the ground and two special operations helicopters and an unmanned drone overhead.

Good thing Obama failed to deliver on his GITMO closing campaign promise

Back in 2007, during a waterboard episode, a name was intercepted that the US could use in order to gather intelligence about Obama’s courier.  As bin Laden did not use phones or computers; this would lead the US directly to the center of bin Laden’s operation. Good thing Obama did not close GITMO like he promised he would 700x during his Presidential campaign.  If Obama closed GITMO, then we would not have gotten the information needed to capture bin Laden. Once again, this shows that President Obama fails to realize the effects on his actions.  Keep GITMO up and running! It’s purpose has been proven to be useful.

Right in plain sight. Hello Captain Obvious.

Come to find out that the “hide away compound” is really a 3000 sq ft house which, interestingly, was located only 100 yards from the gate of the Kakul Military Academy, an army run institution where top officers train.

4 Chinook and Blackhawk helicopters dropped 24 men on the compound. One helicopter suffered a “hard landing” inside the compound after an experiencing a mechanical failure and had to be destroyed on the site, according to one defense official.

There was a large shootout. The residents at the compound resisted. The total raid took 40 minutes.

The final moment of bin Laden’s life

At 3:30 p.m. EST, a 40 man Navy Seals  squadron (Go Navy!)  raided a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, killing  Bin Laden by shooting him in the head. Then, 4 Navy Seals dragged him onboard and washed him in accordance to Muslim tradition, per White House sources.

Personal recount
Abbottabad resident Mohammad Haroon Rasheed said the raid happened about 1:15 a.m. local time and offers a recount of the scene:

“I heard a thundering sound, followed by heavy firing. Then firing suddenly stopped. Then more thundering, then a big blast,” he said. “In the morning when we went out to see what happened, some helicopter wreckage was lying in an open field.”

“Intelligence analysts concluded that this compound was custom built to hide someone of significance,” he said.

Sea burial in accordance to Muslim traditions? There has been much uproar in the Muslim community about the manner in which bin Laden was buried. The US stated that they took necessary Muslim preparations of the body but what they failed to note is that Muslims prefer to be buried in the ground, pointed North towards Mecca not floating around haphazardly in the ocean.

Many Muslims are outraged by this but leadership within Al Qaeda is much to be desired now that the prime directive is no longer operational. However, it would be a grave mistake to wave away the threat of angry Al Qaeda members. If you think Al Qaeda hated the US before, Obama just pumped the hatred up to a new record.

Officials said Bin Laden’s body, which was in U.S. custody, was given a sea burial. Which I find very interesting; why would they not incinerate it?  I dont want any part of the sea to become “sacred” to the terrorists and wage war over occupation of it.

Loss of life tally
Thankfully, no Americans were killed in the mission.  However, not everyone was as lucky as America for bin Laden, bin Laden’s son, 2 Al Qaeda couriers and a women who was used as a human shield were also killed.

09/11 and her victims will always be in my heart

Back in America- Americans (especially those who lost loved ones in the September 11th attack which killed more than 3000 innocent bystanders who were in the American skies, worked in or around the World Trade Center or Pentagon) were rejoicing that “justice has been given.”

“This momentous achievement marks a victory for America, for people who speak peace around the world, and for all those who lost loved ones in September 11, 2001. The fight against terror goes on, but tonight America has sent an unmistakable message; for no matter how long it takes, justice will be done”, proclaimed Former President George W. Bush; the President in Office when the September 11th attacks happened and who initiated the widely known, “War on Terror”.

Helping 09/11 families with closure and healing/ Where’s the Proof?

Now President Obama maintains the burden of proof  in his declaration that bin Laden, America’s Most Wanted Terrorist, is indeed dead. Not only should Obama provide proof because he preached transparency throughout his Presidential campaign but he should also be willing to pony up the pictures of the sea burial (or the autopsy report) for the people who dont take things on face value (which is a majority of the people nowadays) as well as for the families of the victims of 09/11 so that they can find closure.

I think the US govt should release pictures of bin Laden’s  burial at sea so that we can reassure the Muslim community that everything possible was done to give him a proper burial as well as to give the people who are demanding proof; something of substance and to give the families of 09/11 victims a sense of peace to know that Justice has been done and to help them feel at Peace.

Security Alert Raised

In the wake of Bin Laden’s death, authorities around the world are being urged to take security precautions.

One source said officials are concerned bin Laden’s death could incite violence or terrorist acts against U.S. personnel overseas.

The State Department issued a travel alert for U.S. citizens abroad overnight, citing “the enhanced potential for anti-American violence given recent counter-terrorism activity in Pakistan.”

Abbottabad, Pakistan Compound Maps

Look at the 2 maps below to see the area where bin Laden was captured. Note how close the police station is to the 3000+ sq ft compound. Can somebody tell me why we give humanitarian aid to Pakistan again? We should put that money towards our children’s future not bettering the life of a terrorist supporter.

** Google maps seems to have indicated Bin Laden’s hide away in Abbottabad; if you are interested at looking at the surrounding area.

Another image with pins marking both the compound and the Cantt police station:

Attn All US Citizens: Please keep your eyes and ears open in the upcoming days; retaliation is possible (and some would argue probable). BE ALERT and report any suspicious activity to the US Homeland Security Operations line:  (202) 282-8000.

May God bless you and may God bless America and  Israel.

Democrats refuse to collect on overpayment from the UN.

Over the last few weeks, the United Nations (UN) reported that it was holding $179 million in funds that the United States (US)  has overpaid and placing the overpayment in the UN Tax Equalization Fund because the US Administration has not instructed the UN on how it wishes to dispose of them.

Collecting on this overpayment could result in 1) paying down our debt or 2) delivering the money straight back to the tax payers.

In addition, the bill noted that the Administration should also demand that the process for Tax Equalization Fund withholdings be revised to prevent (or at least reduce) future discrepancies leading to such large surpluses.

Either of those three options did not appeal to Congress, as this bill failed to get the necessary two-thirds majority needed under streamlined procedures in a vote tallied 259-169.

Peter Kind, chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, spoke on the floor against the bill, saying the money had been committed to improve security at the Manhattan UN’s office against a possible terrorist attack.

Most of the money has been pledged to fix “really serious concerns” about UN security in Manhattan “that would result in many, many deaths if not corrected,” King told reporters. “I went to too many wakes and funerals on 9/11 to do that over again.”

Please note that King is from New York and retrieving our overpayment from the UN would negatively affect his state.

King and fellow New Yorker Michael Grimm were the only Republicans to oppose the measure as 167 Democrats voted against it.

“I don’t think they knew the security issue was in there,” King said regarding House leaders. King said the UN agreed last October to use $100 million of the fund to help New York improve security at its site and the State Department agreed to the deal.

Even if there is $100 million going towards homeland security which, by the way, is the first time I heard about this obvious kick back to New York.  There is still a remaining $79 million that is sitting uncollected.

It appears that the Democrats are not serious about helping Americans during touch economic times nor paying down our debt with their obvious disregard of free money.

It is said that the rest of the money will go toward future UN payments. However, what is needed now is a tax break for Americans. The Democrats fail to understand this concept, yet again.
